We are currently looking to upgrade our workstations, but are having issues with graphics cards decisions. We currently use matrox parhelia cards, because they allow us to output to two monitors and a tv at the same time. However, they are not very powerful cards.

Can you do this same configuration with most mid to high end graphics cards?

We are looking at the Quadro 1700, but need to make sure this can do a live output to tv from after effects. We would also like to be able to output to tv by just playing a movie in media player (how the matrox cards currently work)

any help/info with this would be a great help

Just checking — why do you need new graphics cards? For which apps?

We do a lot of 3D work (3DS Max) and use after effects daily.(photoshop/illustrator & infrequently combustion)

These are being run on 2 24″ monitors. Max constantly struggles with viewport updating and general interactivity and
we’ve been having a lot of crashing/memory issues with AE7 on all of our workstations, and the only constant is the matrox graphics cards.

We just feel the matrox cards are outdated in terms of power, but i’m open for any recommendations you may have
