GRAPHICS CARD ISSUE
Ever since upgrading to v.10 (currently at 10.102 Warp 10) I have been having issues with Gouraud Shading and lighting. Very often the effect of lighting on an object does not show up. Generally my scenes have 3 point lighting. And I have a sphere BG with its own lighting.
Most of the time I cannot see the effect of the BG lighting consistently, If I am moving a light or adjusting the parameter I see how it effects the scene. But as soon as I choose another object the light illumination disappears. Renders are fine. Sometimes the reverse happens. I can see the spotlights cast on the BG but my foreground object appears completely black even though there are at least three lights on it. If a grab a light and start to move it, the Illumination pops on…. but disappears again when I choose another object.
I hope I am explaining this clearly.
Anyway I am on a Mac G5, 10.4.10 5 GB RAM – ATI Radeon 9600 XT Card 128 mb VRAM.
I have tried multiple options in the C4D Preferences. OpenGL Shading, Software Shading. Many of the choices are Grayed out. I have turned Illumination Check boxes on and off in the Light parameters… tried spot lights… Omnis… gone through a lot of different permutations.
Is this a Graphics card issue? Do I need to upgrade and if so what do you all recommend?
It is frustrating trying to guess how my lighting is going to work.
Thanks
