Graphics card crashes FCP
I’m trying to online 3 one hour documentaries in 720p24 ProRes. Lots of footage, green screen comps, Kronos motion effects, image stabilization, some Tiffen DFX and various colour filters. The suite in question is FCP 7, 3GHz Quad Mac Pro, 6GB ram, AJA LHe with all the latest updates.
We are experiencing several crashes a day. Crash Analyser tells us that many of the crashes are due to the graphics card. The Nvidia GeForce 7300 GT w/ 256MB running 2 – 1680×1050 Samsung Syncmasters LCDs @ 60Hz.
Is anybody else experiencing graphics card crashes? Can anyone recommend a card I can upgrade to that would solve some of these problems?

I realize it’s under powered but I need the real estate of two displays. Can you recommend an upgrade card that won’t break the bank?

If you’re running Color, get the ATI Radeon 2600 or 4870. If not, look at the Nvidia GT series cards.
