Graphic Aliased once rendered!? AHH!!
I have a simple lower third created from Motion dropped onto the Final Cut timeline. I have 4 total locations that there are lower thirds. The first three look perfect. The fourth lower third graphic (only difference is color) looks great UNTIL I RENDER, and the edges alias like mad! The colors of the first three are gray against black. The fourth graphic is Red against blue.
What makes things more confusing is: I’ve gotten as far as exporting even though it looks bad on the timeline, and the QTime looks perfect! Ok, this is good… but I need the video to be an FLV, and once I convert it, the FLV looks exactly as it did in my Final Cut timeline when it is aliased!
How, what, when… I have no more ideas of where the problem lies and I have to push out a draft today! Please suggest! : )

pure red can be a problem if chroma levels exceed spec.
open your vectorscope, park the cursor on that lower third and see if it spikes beyond where it should. bring it down a little with the 3 way cc and it might be ok.
also what codec are you rendering in your timeline setting?
DV will totally destroy anything red. -

I am rendering as DVNTSC 720 X 480, RGB. I’ve also set the rendering to YUV, and SuperWhite… just to try things out. No changes.
When I export, I use QTime… animation codec, or none compression.
