Graffitti to Vegas
Posted by Mike Hinkel on February 22, 2011 at 8:30 amI downloaded a trial Graffiti from Boris and it comes in as a stand alone program. When it installed it asked if it wanted to go into Vegas 9c/32 bit. I have 32 and 64/9e Vegas. Neither show the Graffiti. I know it is not 64 bit. Wondering what I did wrong and how to get it right.

February 22, 2011 at 11:17 amDo you have the BorisXXX.dll files in the Vegas Pro 9.0\Video Plug-Ins folder?

February 22, 2011 at 1:27 pmNo, Theo. I see a Graffiti 5.0.dll file within the Boris FX Inc folder. I didn’t go any farther. I got the warning about opening the files. Told the web to see what program to open them with and got a list.

February 23, 2011 at 12:31 amWhen you installed are you sure you selected [x] Graffiti 5.3 for Vegas Video 9 (32-bit)? It might be worth installing again just to be sure.
Under:
“C:\Program Files (x86)\Sony\Vegas Pro 9.0\Video Plug-Ins”
you should have the following files:
Graffiti5 VVFL.dll
Graffiti5 VVMG.dllif you don’t, something went wrong with the install.
Under the Media Generators you should see Boris Graffiti 5 Static and as a video effect as Boris Graffiti 5.

February 23, 2011 at 1:57 amThanks John, I finally got it to go. I made numerous attempts today and for whatever reason it didn’t want to install. Went as far as uninstalling both only to have the installation fail message. Anyway I hope it is worth all that. It looks like a very capable program when reading the online help pages.
I thank you once again. You know it is very much appreciated.

February 23, 2011 at 2:21 amGlad you got it working. Don’t forget to check out the tutorials on the BorisFX web site. You can even view the Boris RED tutorial because a lot of the functions are the same.

February 23, 2011 at 3:42 amThanks again, John Looks like I have to buy it. My code let me install, but it is not usable. It is telling me to log in as administrator to unlock it.??? I am the administrator. I thought the trial started when I installed the program…..

February 23, 2011 at 7:54 amyes, with the unlock code that has been sent to you by Boris FX, Graffiti trial becomes fully functional for a limited time. So I have the feeling you might need to reinstall Windows first.

February 23, 2011 at 11:58 amI would contact BorisFX. I installed it on a fresh Windows 7 64-bit machine and it installed and ran fine. Maybe it’s something with how your PC is set up? Try install by running “as administrator” even though you say you are the administrator. Then try starting the stand-alone version “as administrator” also. Sometimes that helps just to get programs to register. Otherwise, contact BorisFX support or just post to their forum here on the COW.

February 24, 2011 at 2:37 pmHello Mike,
I have seen one case of this before and the solution was a simple removal of the software and then a reinstall and it worked for that customer.
Thank You
Jeremy

February 24, 2011 at 5:57 pmI have tried everything I know how to try along with every suggestion offered. The software works as far as dragging the transition or effect and when it hits the timeline a box opens with only the Boris FX banner while the image in the preview window has an X over it. Non usuable. I tried to call Boris tech support only to have the phone ring forever to an answering machine…
