    Gradient transparency in Illustrator CS2

    Hello,
    I am trying to make a gradient blend from a color to a transparency. Seems basic enough, but consulting the manual tells me to use knockout / mask opacities and I can’t figure it out for the life of me.

    It seems like such a basic thing to have a color blending to a transparency in the gradient tool, it’s gotta be there somewhere.

    Draw your object or select the path in the Layers.
    Go to Transparency

    It’s kinda an awkward workflow, but I’ll get used to it.
