Graded transparency
Is it possible to grade the transparency of a clip i.e. the left side of the clip is solid and the image gradually reaches 100% transparent at the right side of the clip??

Have you tried the title tool?
Create a box the size of your frame and play with the transparency. You can control the gradient by adjusting the size of the box.
You’ll get more control of the gradient by using Photoshop, though. Export a frame of video, import into PShop. Create a transparency and save as a .png.
