GPU effects
Posted by Ketan on June 20, 2005 at 7:16 pmDear all,
I am going crazy trying to figure out where do I find the GPU effects (refraction) in premiere pro 1.5
I have installed a GeForce 4000 MX GPU card replacing my old one.
Still I can not figure out where to locate them.
If I have incompitable card then which is the one I should have.
Thanks,
Ketan

June 21, 2005 at 4:01 amThanks Craig,
Which GPU card you are using?
I have no such folder under effects.
There are 1.presets 2. Audio effects 3. Audio transitions 4.Video effects 5. Video transitions
Thanks

June 21, 2005 at 9:16 amIt is a sub folder in Video Effects and I assume it was installed by PPro.
I am not sure what you mean by GPU card but my system runs a NVidia GeForce FX5200 Graphics Board and a Matrox RTX100 Extreme Video Board

June 21, 2005 at 5:00 pmIn order for Premiere Pro to show you the GPU effects, your video card must support Vertex Shader 2.0 and Pixel Shader 2.0. I don’t know if the GeForce 4000 MX does, but being an older, cheaper card I doubt that it does. At the very least, make sure you’re running the latest (or a reasonably recent) version of the Nvidia drivers.

June 21, 2005 at 9:02 pmI ca not work out why the folder is not there if even if you can not make them work with you hardware.
I just rechecked and they are definitely a sub folder in the Video Effects Folder. It contains three fx – PAge Curl, Refraction and Ripple(Circular)

June 22, 2005 at 12:23 pmAs I understand it simply installing your new card will not bring up the GPU Effects. I think you need to repair or re-install Premiere Pro. These effects are only present on installation if PPro recognises your video card as suitable.

June 22, 2005 at 5:15 pmNo, the plug-ins should install regardless of what card you have. Premiere Pro should load them or not, each time you launch the program, based on what features it detects on the video card.
If you want to double-check me, anyone reading this can check the following directory for the GPU plug-ins (GPUPageCurl.AEX, etc.), and then see whether or not they load. And for kicks you could also post which video card you have. I’m running an Nvidia Quadro 1300.
C:\Program Files\Adobe\Premiere Pro 1.5\Plug-ins\en_US
(en_US will probably vary if you’re in a different country)
