    GPU Acceleration which card

    I am running Adobe premier CS5 on a Mac Tower Dual-Core Intel Xeon

    I would like to take advantage of GPU Acceleration Adobe CS5 recommends getting a NVidea graphics card with 1GB of memory umfortunatly my computer is a mac pro 1.1 and will not work with Nvidea cards (they state it will only work with version 3 or higher.)

    I can purchase a ATI Radeon HD 5770 1GB Graphics card which will work with my computer, does any body know if I will be able to achieve GPU Acceleration with this card on my computer?

    Hi Jonathan,

    Only nVidia cards have the CUDA technology, so other manufacturer’s cards are not an option for Adobe Mercury Playback Engine acceleration. The only current offering for Mac is the Quadro 4000 card.

    Th previous offering for Mac Pro was the GTX 285, but I don’t think that supported the 1.1 Mac either.
