What exactly are you trying to achieve ?

An important thing to know about expressions is that they only serve as a replacement for keyframe.
This means: you can only add an expression to a parameter that can be animated, and the only thing that parameter expects is a value as the result of the expressions.

Since there’s no easy way to keyframe the contents of a layer (what comp to play), and the easiest way would be just to do the edit manually…

Is it something very complex you’re trying to achieve ?

Actually, I think I found a way around it using the code you offered for the other query I had, it was just 2 ways of trying to achieve the same thing.
