If I do a test with the AJA drive speed system test, I get great average
speeds up into the 400s, but if you look at the graph there are spikes that go WAY DOWN to 25 or 41 or so speeds on individual frames. Wouldn’t this cause dropped frames or worse, not let me do multiple streams because of it?
I haven’t put any video on the system yet and I haven’t tested it for
actual capture and playback. I’m still in the install phase.

It’s a Friday afternoon and I can’t ask the Sonnet people, so I thought
I’d ask you all. Should I be worried about this? What do you see on your
AJA system test with RAIDs you know are fine, as far as those very low
    spikes down in speed?

Sorry I don’t have an answer for you but you should be posting in the Aja Kona forum for this. Try to get Mr. Zelin’s or Mr. Biscardi’s attention.

It ran fine today during testing. Maybe those spikes aren’t as big a deal
as it seems. I’ll ask around first of the week and post what I find out.

More testing and comments from others here point out I was mistaken to
worry about the spikes in the speed graph. Turns out this is typical
behavior for all drive arrays with that AJA speed test. So far the RAID
    have been performing great.

    Never mind.

    [weevie833] “Mr. Biscardi’s attention.”

Just call me Wally, everyone else does. Mr. Biscardi is my dad! 🙂

As noted in the AJA Forum in Dan’s thread, I have seen those spikes on every single hard drive array I ever tested in our shop and they haven’t been an issue. We even tested that very box Dan is running a few months ago and it’s fine.
