  • Got error message “File video dimensions (width/height) too large when importing an audio file

    Hi all,

I know this has appeared in the forum before but I don’t understand what’s happening to mine. I imported an MP3 file to edit with my footage before but that audio file is too long, so I used Adobe Soundbooth to reduce the length of the audio. But when I tried to import the shortened audio file back to ppro CS4, this error message comes up.

I read from previous posts that i have to delete some XML files or sth, but I don’t think I have them as I checked under the files I have in my documents…

    Please help!!!! Thanks!!!

Did u try to export the mp3 file as a WAV file from soundbooth? I can see the length of the audio file to be the reason I’d say it has something to do with the mp3 files compression settings. Converting it to an uncompressed audio file will solve it.

Thanks Jon. Unfortunately it didnt solve the problem. I’ve been looking elsewhere on this forum and tried to do various different things like uninstalling and reinstalling, trying to import in another computer remotely etc still won’t work on mine…

“File dimensions too large” is what happens when the Premiere file import module (ImporterProcessServer.dll) freezes up. To get Premiere working again, you have to reboot (or log off and back on – quicker than rebooting). Just restarting Premiere usually won’t work.

There is something about your MP3 file that Premiere doesn’t like. I would take Jon’s advice and convert to WAV in Soundbooth (or some other app), restart your computer, and import the WAV file.

P.S. Get rid of the MP3 in your Premiere project. Premiere will lock up just trying to load it during startup.

Thanks for the advice! I tried to convert it to WAV and didn’t work, and tried everything else. In the end I had to uninstall the whole of the creative suite and reinstall again and it worked finally…

There are several reasons why you’d encounter such. One may be rooted from the characters themselves, a sharing violation, path name problems etc.

Personally, I have been convinced with a software in the site… https://LongPathTool.com.

You may check it out and see for yourself.
