    Hi all,

    Looking for some Goro help.

In my experience Gopro and Avid can be a rocky road when doing conforms.

In the past I have witnessed workflows as such:

Rename Gopro MP4s using something like “A better Finder Renamer” so that every clip has a unique name
Wrap Mp4s to Quicktimes to make Avid a bit happier using VideoToolShed GoProToQT
    AMA and Transcode to Dnx36
Relink at conform and transcode to DNX185x

The one point where I am coming stuck is the rewrap to MOV. I can perform this fine but it changes the time of day timecode. Although it would be pretty difficult to sync with our main cams anyway some indication of time of day would be good .

When I wrap I have two options.

Use file modified time for TC instead of 01 hour based or not

Either way the TC changes. Is there no way or wrapping and retaining the same Time of Day ??

    Thanks

Why the re wrap? which version of MC are you using you can bring in the mp4 native and then transcode

My understanding is that Avid is a lot happier with MOV than MP4 with AMA and the Gopro codec. This may be a hangover of mine from the past when using MC v5 etc

    Using 8.4.2 on OSX 10.10.3

I am just doing a transcode and relink test. Will report back but any thoughts appreciated

Yeah…no need to re-wrap. Just AMA link and then transcode.

    Update on this

MP4 Transcode works well and relinks in 99 % of circumstances to correct clips. however with a re-wrap to MOV, I am seeing transcode times cut in half. I guess the legacy of Avids MP4 dislike is still being felt

I’d highly recommend you use MP4 to QT first. It will combine spanned clips and add timecode based on the time modified of the file. It’s not as accurate as true TOD timecode, but it’s something. Do that first, then AMA and transcode.
