    Hi all,

I’ve been testing out the Hero 3 and I am stoked that GoPro added on more features for filmmakers.
I’ll lay out my workflow below, but I am sure there is a better path.

Shoot in 2.7k, 24p, Protune, Raw White Balance, → Convert in GoPro Cineform → Adjust WB and exposure in Cineform → Export .mov from Cineform → Import .mov into Premiere

I’ve heard that some people color correct the raw GoPro footage in AE in a 32bit floating point comp. What’s your workflow for protune raw GoPro Footage? Any insight will be much appreciated!

That’s pretty silly/overkill when your shot footage is 8-bit.

We shoot the same thing sometimes on the same camera, but!
We bring the footage straight into APP and CC there.
    Saves a step of compression.

    Chris,

Are you able to directly import the mp4 2.7k Protune footage into Premiere and edit without choppy playback? I would like to avoid compressing with CineForm Studio altogether, but I haven’t been able to get smooth playback in APP CS6. I’ve read reports of many others having this issue as well. Something about that Protune codec apparently.

I too prefer NOT to add a compression step by stopping by CineForm.
But, NO, I do not get smooth play back in APP, I have to render first.

    Regardless of smooth playback.

I am still unable to import 120fps footage directly into Adobe Premiere without the footage playing back at 60fps. Every clip I import is in slow motion from the onset.

Is there a way to have it play back in real time without adjusting the speed duration of every clip I import?

Try using the interpret footage feature and tell PP it’s 120fps. works like a charm.
