    Hi guys,

Our work just bought a go pro hero 3+ and i’m starting to have a play with it to see how it grades.

I’m no expert on grading, but I understand the basics… at least I think.

So far if I shoot in pro tune with raw and flat profile settings on. The image will come out similar to a canon c300 C Log, although I have noticed the go pro image introduces quite a strong magenta in its flat look.

I will then apply a fast colour corrector and compensate to remove some of the magenta look, to restore my overall colour cast. (so whites look white etc)

I then apply a luma curve and modify into a S curve to match up with other cameras.

My steps don’t involve using LUT’s and i’m wondering if it should, if my final product is headed for the HDTV. Should there be a Rec.709 LUT in there somewhere?

Any help on the best process is most appreciated.

Go Pro actually has an app you can use to get your clips into the ballpark. I think its called “GoPro Studio” and is free. I usually use this to get the clips close first and then fine tune in Premiere or Davinci.
