GoPro Fisheye correction effect
Posted by Alex Rod on April 22, 2013 at 1:18 pmIs there a fish eye corrector filter in premiere? I have gopro footage that I want to correct – I’m sure this is a very common issue.
thanks!

April 22, 2013 at 1:43 pmHave you tried the Lens Distortion filter with a minus setting? I think that should do the trick. Here’s a quick tutorial on it:

I just looked in my copy of PPro CS6, and it’s right there in the Effects Panel under Video Effects/Distort/Lens Distortion. I don’t know why you wouldn’t have it in your install as well.
Anyway, here’s a script which should do the job for you if you can’t find it in your PPro copy:

April 22, 2013 at 4:01 pmWhoops – I answered in the wrong post – above…
The Lens Distortion effects is a Windows only effect, so if you’re on a Mac, you’ll have to use a third-party solution. Otherwise, it should be there…

April 22, 2013 at 7:45 pmMac has far less effects then windows for Premiere.
You can do this is AE:Optics Compensation
For 1080 set it to about 60-65 and for 720 80-85.
Lens Distortion set to reverse.

April 12, 2014 at 9:37 pmThis reply is pretty late but GoPro has their own software for doing some minor stuff to their footage https://gopro.com/software-app/gopro-studio-edit-software
It has the option to de-fisheye and since it’s their software they know the exact amount of distortion to apply so its a checkmark that is applied and then you can export the footage.
