Google Drive as a Scratch Disk
Posted by Adam Berch on August 19, 2021 at 12:09 pmHi,
Is it possible to use Google Drive as a Scratch Disk when editing in Premiere Pro? If so, How?
Thanks,

August 19, 2021 at 3:01 pmThat would be nice. But your data speed is the killer here.
I see options for syncing Google Drive to your local.
Is your intent for backup without having to manually move assets?
I don’t think you can use it as smoothly as a network drive.

August 20, 2021 at 12:53 pmGoogle drive is not like a traditional storage device. besides the bad latency you would get when random scrubbing, (unless render cached), you would run into a maximum bandwidth limit. not in the traditional sense of bandwidth, but if you read more than x tb per month, they can freeze your account. but for something small, it might be a fun experiment. i wouldn’t use it professionally as an online IO storage.
