Any help is much appreciated here,

We need a multiproc PC with 4Gb of ram that can realtime preview from AE up to HD rez (or RGB HD if possible) and can also function as a scope system (similar to Omnitek XR) for our Quantel eQ.

You knew this was coming…. It also needs to be cheap.

    Thanks cow.

pretty much any old pc will ram preview hd in realtime.. the question is how much you will be able to ram preview? that will be determined by the amount of ram, and if ae can only use 2gb of ram in windows-32bit you may be pretty limited. if you are going to playout from disk then you will need to get a disk (or disk array) that is capable of reading at the data rate of the codec that you will use (dvcprohd, for example, has a data rate that is within firewire800 specs, not too bad).

i assume you are wanting to capture directly from ae to your eq…. you will need an hd capture/playout card like a decklink hd card from blackmagic, they start at around $1000 but you’ll need to check your connection requirements for the eq or house routing system.
