  • Good Mid-range Camera for Chroma Key?

Hey, all! Wanted to get some opinions on what would be a good mid-range HD-resolution camera for Chroma key, taking into account resolution, chroma subsampling, and any other factors that come to mind…

The two ends of the spectrum I’m currently looking at are the Panasonic HVX200 (DVCPRO HD, 1280×1080, 4:2:2, daily rental of around $300) and the Red One (up to 4k, 4:4:4, daily rental around $1,000).

Are there any cameras in between those two that you guys would recommend?

Also – there’s some debate about the Sony PMW-EX1 vs the HVX200… Though the PMW is “true” HD at 1920×1080, it uses 4:2:0 chroma subsampling and people argue that there’s actually more information for chroma key in the 1280×1080 image sampled at 4:2:2 than the 1920×1080 image sampled at 4:2:0…

    Thoughts?

    Thanks!!!

    Nick
