A Doctor friend wants to create informative youTube videos. She is a quick study, and this would be her first attempt to edit simple talking head videos.

IS SONY VEGAS simple enough for a pure beginner to master quickly?

If so, what are best tutorials to suggest to her?

She has PC computers. What computer specs are best for easy operating?
    (i.e. ram and clock speed)

Thanks in advance for your advice.
(I’m a pro shooter and editor but not on PC’s)

From the outline of your friend’s requirements, here’s my advice:-

1/- Download one of the little brothers to VegasPro, like one of the Vegas Platinum Studio versions DEMO.

    2/- install and PLAY!

    That’s my advice.

I would recommend getting the Movie Studio version NOT the Pro version. As Graham said there is a 30-day trial so use it before you buy it.

Minimum specs for a casual user is an Intel Core i5 with 4GB of memory.

I taught my daughter the editing basics on Vegas in an hour. Her boyfriend tried to get her to use Premiere Pro, but she gave up after two very frustrating days.

Having tried to pick up Avid, Premiere, Final Cut, and Vegas, Vegas is by far the most intuitive to me to use (though Avid was a close second back when I used it in 2003/2004. No idea if that still bears out.)

[Stephen Mann] “I taught my daughter the editing basics on Vegas in an hour.”

I also taught my daughter to use Movie Studio in about an hour as well. She now uses iMovie because she’s on a Mac but she was doing some amazing things with Movie Studio without me having to show her how. It’s a very easy program to use.
