Good 4k build for AE and Premiere

I would start with:
X99 motherboard
5820K CPU – OC to at least 4.0GHz
at least 32gb quad channel ddr4 ram
GTX 970 or 970SLI
Seasonic MII power supply around 620W or more.
Corsair H105 cooling
MX100 SSD with 512gb are best buy at the moment or 2TB HDD’s.

There is only one problem. I can’t find Thunderbolt with socket 2011-3
Thunderbolt is on only 6 motherboards with socket 1150.

If thunderbold is unavoidable, u have to go with 4790 and 1150 etc.

If you plan tu buy 2011-3 socket and to OC then I would recommend the following corrections to your parts:
Take:
5820K – it’s a lot cheaper and the same as 5930k. Both are designed from the same chip and can reach the same clocks.

The motherboard can stay the same.

Memory can stay the same, but the g.skills have coolers.

Grašhic card: EVGA GTX 980 (register and get 5 year warranty)
It was just released, consumes a lot less power and has a lot more computing power than 780ti, with the same price.

Computercase. If you are buying corsair hidro cooling, than buy a corsair Case for best compatibility.

SSD can stay the same.

So buy something like this and it will be perfecto:

Power supply: Buy a Seasonic MII-750 or 620W, because you computer is not going to use more than 450W under full load and OCed and there is no point buying a gold, because the seasonic has already best quality and efficiency.

Why do you need network card?
Why do you need sound card?

Those on the motherboard are the same or even better.

The money U save, from what I have told you, use for 2 monitors with 2560×1440.

Hi,

I just came across this thread. It’s a few months old now. For someone doing regular After Effects work, would you say your hardware list is still valid?

My current system is using a GTX680 w/2GB, i7-3770 w/16 GB DDR3, and just bought some new Samsung Pro 850’s (which really sped things up). I was thinking about the possibility of using the GTX680 in the new build for now. Would a newer graphics card like the 980 make a huge difference to ram preview times? Will the new motherboard/CPU/DDR4 make a big difference if I’m already using the fast Samsung 850’s? Thanks for any help.
