  • Golf Ball Dynamics ?

    Hi,
I have a scene that looks like this:
    https://tabortwins.com/ftpstuff/lpga.jpg

What I am trying to do is have the golf ball come in from behind the camera and bounce off the 2 logo’s and land in the grass. I can’t get it to look right keyframing it, so i am trying to use dynamics. I can get the ball to drop straight down but not have forward momentum. I tried using wind to blow the ball into the scene but i feel like i am totally off on my approach to this. Can you use a spline path and still respect collision properties? Then i could keyframe the ball into the first logo and have dynamics take over… I tried baking the dynamics and the modifying the keyframes but that has the momentum still as droping from straight down. Ug, i am a noob…

That’s what the Start Tab is for in the Rigid Body Dynamics Tag.

“The ‘v’ settings define the starting velocity of the rigid body. The ‘w’ settings set the angular velocity (rotation). ‘F’ defines a force that is exerted during the first frame of the dynamics animation. The values you enter for ‘I’ will define the torque applied during the first frame of the dynamics animation.”

So you can set a starting speed and let it run. Like this.

    Chris,

I am new at Cinema 4d as well but I thought it looked great. Did you put it on a huge sphere or is that falloff from the camera ? I don’t know a better way to do it. I don’t even have the hair module. Thanks.

Not a sphere. It’s on a small landscape to keep the count way down.

Any chance of resurrecting this bad boy from the dead and reposting that file?

Will love you longest time 25 dollar and a bag of rice.

I probably have the file still but it would be using the old dynamics I’ll bet, what version of C4D are you using? I can remake it with the current dynamics (once I open it and find out what it does)

Amazing! I’m R13 – happy to tinker around with an old file though – not sure how much has changed since? I joined around R12 days…

I do have the original but it does not work in 12+ What version of 13 do you have? Do you have MoDynamics (I have 14 Studio so I would use Dynamics but you might not have that)
