Going from FCP to Motion with markers
I asked this question in the Motion forum but haven’t been able to get an answer so maybe someone here can help.
How do I get part of an audio clip out of Final Cut into Motion with markers intact?
I’ve got a sequence edited that has 2 tracks of audio & video. I’ve added markers on the audio clip matching the beat of the music. The markers show up in the audio clip on the timeline, not on the top part of the timeline. Of course now I’ve decided I want to totally redo the video edit and I want to do it in Motion. What I want to do is just take a 30 second section of the audio clip that contains my markers and move it into Motion where I’ll add my new video & effects and then move that back into FCP. I can get the audio into Motion (both by setting In/Out on the Timeline & exporting a QT movie & by setting In/Out on the Timeline & sending to Motion) but when I get to Motion I don’t see the markers. I’ve made sure to include all markers when I create a QT file but either they aren’t making it over, or I’m not sure how to see the markers in Motion. I don’t care if the existing video makes it into Motion or not, I just want the audio segment with markers.
How do I do this?
