  • Going from a 32 bit to 64 bit OS?

Posted by Jim Lillis on February 3, 2015 at 4:45 pm

    A quick question here.

New computer with a 64 bit OS… will my old files and projects from the 32 bit machine still be able to be edited if needed. Sony VP same version, simply installed on the new machine.

*I know I’ll have to pull all project elements into the new machine so sony can find them*

    Thanks

If it moves . . . Shoot it!

What version of Vegas Pro are you using? The last few versions came in separate 32 bit or 64 bit versions, depending on which version of Windows you were running.

As long as you carry over your projects, folders and files as they are
from your old system, they will be able to be edited and all will be well.
Except: if you used a 32bit plugin in your project and not have the 64bit
version installed on your new system, You will get a warning.

If you install Vegas, all plug-ins, etc. as on your current PC, it’s going to be business as usual. Hopefully much faster.

If you install the 64-bit version, the project is compatible. You will need 64-bit versions of any plug-in you may be using, or you’ll lose whatever it is they do.

    Both versions can be installed.
