Going from 24p HD to 30p SD – Getting Drop Frames – Help!
I have a project I edited in Final Cut – The timeline settings are:
960×720 HD 16:9 – 23.98 Frames…I need to export an Apple Pro Rez as SD 4:3… but every time I do, frames drop out during the video… how can i fix this??

You sure you need to do this? Can’t think of a reason why, but hey, there’s always a reason I didn’t think of…
But turning on frame controls might help if you’re changing frame rates… but why are you doing this?

Can you give us some more info about your project? What codec are you working with?
It looks like you are working with DVCProHD 720p23.98, is this correct?
What kind of output hardware do you have? Is this going to a Quicktime file or tape?
In all probability… your video is not true 24p. If it were, you’d see scene flicker on your monitor. And almost everyone shoot DVCProHD in 24p, not 24pA. If so, just change your sequence settings to DVCProHD 720p30, and it should work. You may have to re-render everything.

No… not at all. Its just that most people don’t shoot in this mode. Not as common as 24p or 24pA.

We shoot in 24PN all the time actually. Saves on card space. You can add back pulldown with Kona cards if need be. If DVD you don’t need to do that. 24fps isn’t my favorite though. Don’t like judder. 30p makes a nice smooth image I think.
