    Hi

I’m making the move from FCP7 to the latest version of Premiere and so far really enjoying it, but… i can’t get the Go to Next/Previous edit to work while the timeline is playing.

I’ve tried everything, changing the shortcuts to up/down arrow, pageup/down, using go to all edit points vs selected track edit points, resetting the keyboard layout.

All these changes work as expected when the playhead is static but not whilst moving, at which point the playhead struggles to move but then returns to normal playback.

    Is this a bug?

I’m using a MBPr attached to an apple keyboard. Doesn’t work on the laptop keyboard either though.

Can anyone help as i really don’t think i can get through this project without being able to quickly step through edits!

    Thanks

    Dan

    Hi there Dan,

I don’t believe that playback continues when jumping to the next edit. Here’s an overview on playback and on ‘continuous playback’ within Premiere Pro: https://helpx.adobe.com/premiere-pro/using/playing-assets.html

    Thanks Dennis.

Actually worked out the problem was that I had the ‘multi-camera view’ switched on, weirdly this stopped the playhead jumping to the next edit while playing, turning it off it works as normal.

Strangely having the ‘multi-camera view’ on also changes the behaviour of ‘Ripple Trim Previous Edit to Playhead’, giving it continuous playback, which is much better imho!

I didn’t realise as you pointed out that in Premiere playback doesn’t continue after jumping to the next edit like in FCP 7. I’ll be sure to put in a Feature Request as i use this all the time to jump through edits.

Starting to feel at home in Premiere though and it’s only my third day!

    Dan
