    Hi Avid Community!

I have been testing our line of QuickTime components with MC6. It appears that they will work reasonably well with the Macintosh version of Media Composer 6 on MacOSX 10.7.x.

Currently, you can use the built in QuickTime AMA to work with our QuickTime components. This includes the Cineon/DPX Pro for FCS, ARRI Camera Toolkit and Phantom Cine Toolkit products. When the components are installed, you can use the AMA importer to import a Cineon or DPX sequence, an ARRIRAW (.ari files) sequence or a Phantom Cine file from a Phantom Camera. As with Final Cut Pro, you can easily playback the footage on the timeline, without transcoding or rendering.

    Some Notes:
    – We are working on specific AMA plugins to provide better integration with Media Composer 6. There are some house-keeping steps that we want to perform, to make your lives a little easier. This would be similar to the Final Cut Pro plugins we include.

    – We are also investigating a Windows version of the products too. This is a huge undertaking, so please stay tuned. A lot of work is needed to complete a first version.

    – The testing with Media Composer 6 was not extensive. However, I believe the products’ performance should be similar to that of Final Cut Studio. Our testing indicates this. However, only time and experience will let us know for sure.

You can download a demo copy of our packages from our website.

    Phantom Cine Toolkit
    ARRI Camera Toolkit for MacOSX

When installing the software, you can optionally skip the Final Cut Studio plugins, if you do a custom install.

I look forward to supporting the Avid platform in the coming months! Please send notes and feedback, as you can!

    Thanks!
