  • Glowing outline – how to?

Posted by Steven Barbour on August 17, 2009 at 2:19 pm

    Hi,

looking for a little help with this. I can create a mask and stroke this to create a line, but I can’t apply a glow to just the stroke (glow applies to clip layer and whole shot glows).

What I am trying to do is outline something in a still; I want a glowing outline that I can key in and out.

    Any help appreciated,

    cheers

    Steven

Copy the mask, make a new Comp-sized solid an paste the mask in this new solid. Use the Stroke effect as you have been using it, but set “Paint style” as “on transparent”, so that the solid goes away. Then apply the Glow effect after Stroke.

That worked perfectly as I wanted – thank you.

Cheers for taking the time to post,
