    Hi,

I’m a new C4D user currently working through a tutorial. I’m creating a glowing light fixture hanging from a ceiling.

The tutorial calls for a material to be created and placed on the glass surface of a light with the glow, luminance, and color channels selected. The preview of the material looks appropriate with a bright glow and luminance, but when I place it on the glass surface and render, there seems to be no glow effect. The color is correct, but nothing else.

I checked my rendering settings and under “Effects” the Glow channel is selected. I played with the settings there some more. The only way I could get a glow to render was by increasing the intensity, but this effected the entire room, not just the glass material.

So, I’m a bit lost and can’t find much detail in reference manuals or the tutorial. Can anyone help?

    Thank You

With a bit more experimenting I found the problem. Render Settings/Effects has another effect called “Object Glow” which needed to be added to the render. I added it from the drop-down list, checked the box next to it, and my glow came out fine.

Thought I’d post to let anyone else know who has a similar problem.
