    Glow without the effect?

    Hey,
    Apparently the glow effect did not come standard with the 6.5 version of After Effecte that I am using at my university’s lab. My question: Is there any way to achieve the look of the glow effect without actually using the glow effect?

    I dont have AE in this pc im using right now, but maybe if you dupe your layer, the bottom layer you push a huge blur, it

    Dupe the layer, blur it and use a blend mode like screen or add on it.
