gloss highlight
Posted by Robin Erard on July 21, 2011 at 12:58 pmHello,
Is there a way to “gloss” highlight (not blur, I know how to do that), but how to create a glare/halo from highlight ?
Or I have to use plugin for that ?
All the best

July 21, 2011 at 1:34 pmNot sure if it’s exactly the look you’re going for, but I occasionally do a qualification that selects just the highlights, then grow that key larger than the highlight, soften the key, and lift up the shadows/midtones within, which gives a kind of hazy glow to light sources… it’s a little too uniform sometimes (highlights far away will glow with the same size as highlights close) so splitting it out into several sizes…

July 22, 2011 at 6:01 amThis, combined with the key mixer node, has gotten me there for those glow looks. That said, I do wish there was a way of blurring a key more or having a blur affect rbga instead of just rbg.
But the director of my current feature is raving so I’m a happy camper.

December 30, 2011 at 3:50 pmJake, would you mind sharing your settings for this mist highlights effect? I’ve done this in After Effects and Resolve doesn’t seem to yield the same gauzy look.
