Global looping toggle command?
Posted by Richard Angle on April 19, 2013 at 6:02 amHow can I toggle loop on and off when working on the timeline? The shortcut menu allows key assignments for looping to the program, source, amd trimming monitors only. Not the timeline? It’s typically between the in and outs that I just set on the timeline that I’d like to loop. Any way to just simply toggle looping on and off throughout the program? Why can’t CNTR+L simply toggle on and off looping no matter which window one is in?
Thanks.

April 19, 2013 at 6:54 pmYou could set up a program like Autohotkey to trigger multiple shortcut key combinations from one keystroke, effectively making a universal shortcut key.

April 19, 2013 at 7:56 pmThanks for the response but I’m not sure I follow you, Alonzo. It’s simply not possible to assign a keystroke to toggle the loop function when working in the timeline. Ironically, when working in the timeline, its really the only time that I’d like to be using the toggling loop in the first place! If I am working in the timeline, why can’t I just hit Cntrl+L to toggle looping on or off? It makes no sense to me why the looping toggle can’t simply be a global program setting.
And what about when I am working in the fullscreen “`” timeline window? How on earth does one toggle loop on and off from that mode?

April 19, 2013 at 8:58 pmWith a program like AutoHotKey, you could conceivably program it to trigger three shortcut key combinations when you press one. AutoHotKey and similar programs intercept your keystrokes and allows you to script things around them. It’s a totally seperate program and useful for many things. https://lifehacker.com/5598693/the-best-time+saving-autohotkey-tricks-you-should-be-using Not sure if they have a version for Mac if you’re on one, but there should be a similar program out there.
With that said, you are correct, you can’t trigger any toggling from the timeline panel. Feature request for now https://www.adobe.com/cfusion/mmform/index.cfm?name=wishform

April 19, 2013 at 10:01 pmOh. I think I understand you. I could set a series of the following keystrokes?
“Shift+4” to highlight the program monitor
“CNTR+L” to toggle the loop
“Shift+3” to go back to the timeline
“spacebar” to execute the playSomething like this?
“Shift+4” (+) “CNTR+L” (+) “Shift+3” (+) “Spacebar” And all of these commands coul be assigned to a single keystroke combo through this program? Thanks Alonzo.

April 20, 2013 at 12:15 amAh yes, that would indeed be a way to do it. Slipped my minds to think of adding in the shortcuts that would highlight the program monitor. I think you got it.
