    Friends,

How do you create a displacement map that appears like a rain glass, or distorted glass effect. I would really like to make an After Effects Comp. with several layers of shapes (in this case with different shades of blue on each layer), but in the midst of the many different layers, have some kind of adjustment [layer?] that creates a feel where some of the layers appear to be behind “glass”, while others remain in front of the “glass”.

    Any suggestions?

    Thanks!

    Cordially,

Go find a pane of glass than has the pattern in it you want. Shoot it.
Use the still image as your displacement map.
Shoot lots of glass panels in various lighting conditions. You want only a little bit of contrast.

This is my standard sigfile so do not take it personally: “For crying out loud, read the freakin’ manual.”
