Sorry for the multiple posts, but this is killing me! I’ve searched the threads here and elswhere on this subject and theres not much.
Seems my new GL2 wont capture when the G Drive is plugged in. Something to do with all the fire wire ports using the same bus. Now I see one of the fixes is to add another FW bus via an Express 34 card, but the Powerbook doesnt have that slot. I didnt have this problem with my old sony trv consumer cam. If I get a cheaper canon cam for use as a “capture deck” will I have the same problem? Or do i need to get a Non -Canon to avoid this? Seems the more I learn and progress, the more I have to spend!!
    Thanks Dean

Your computer has a PCMCIA slot. You can probably still find a card for that.

    All the best,

Thanks Tom, i read your reply on the Apple forums just now too!
So the easiest fix seems to be just get a non Canon – capture deck, i.e. a cheap video cam for capture only.
What about useing the E sata port on the G drive? is there a way to plug that into my Powerbook?
