A mediocre 4.2 GHZ Kaby Lake CPU with 16 GB of RAM and a GTX 1080 would probably work just fine for your needs. Having said that wait until the Zen CPUs form AMD hit the market next month. The Zen CPUs may or may not be a game changer for video editors.

Not that bad. That said a “basic” modern i5 or i7 CPU will still probably be faster in your use unless you’re is doing a lot of parallel computing (like exporting multiple versions from one file at the same time).

You could probably get a new ready to go Asus/Acer/whatever desktop computer with that money.

Thanks Ann but they don’t know me there and will assume I’m some video editing big shot like Dave LaRonde ????

Anyway, I’ve given up BUT… I found this one with specs that blows away anything I’ve ever seen before (in my world, of course, not you guys). Some places mistakenly say DDR3 but RAM is definitely DDR4. All for under $1,000.00

well, its not 10 years old this time…but its still 4 cores and a generation older than 7700k, and Premiere likes 6 or more cores for 4k.

also, you would need at the minimum, a 850 evo for os/apps/render output/media cache/
and another 850pro or 960 evo for media/project files

minimum 1060gtx or 1050ti. 32gb ram.

I mean, you could get what you need and have good results without having to cut corners for the same price. you just need a vendor that won’t rip you off.
