Ghost Effect in Vegas
I’ve seen people who make personal movies use the “Ghost Effect” in vegas. To my understanding, the effect is based on the layering of two videos/images/video + image combo to make it seem like there’s a ghost in the background of your main video. For example : In Macbeth (a famous Shakesperean play), Macbeth sees a ghost that no one else can see, I was wondering how I could just make an image sort of float in mid air with a faded effect. Thanks in advance!

Tape the “ghost” separately (maybe even in front of a green screen). Put the “ghost” on a track above the main footage. Now reduce the opacity of that upper clip to maybe 50%. Adjust the opacity up or down from there to get the desired look.

Thank you! That is a very good idea and we will probably use it, but I was wondering how you would do this with a normal .jpg file? I tried the same for this but you can still see the white background of the image on top, how do I get rid of the image’s background?

The white needs to be masked out in some way. You could try to Chroma Key it out. Either that or, since it’s a jpg, put it in your paint program, make the unwanted areas transparent, and then save it as a png or psd (both of which support transparency)
