    Hey guys :
    i have a GH2 , hacked …. driftwood 176Mb

Recently bought an IDX P-V212 v-mount adapter, coupler for the GH2 etc

hooked it up with my Marshall Monitor etc and it all works fine. But i noticed the GH2 only comes on when the Marshall is connected to it via HDMI and has a power connection to the marshal as well, now the monitor does not have to be on but just has to have power going to it.

unplug the monitor and the GH2 goes off, remove the HDMI GH2 goes off. leave monitor connected to GH2 and unplug the coupler from Gh2 and camera goes off (as expected)

Now this obviously means i cannot run the camera via d tap unless there is a monitor or EVF or something getting power via Dtap and HDMI connect, which is kinda annoying because sometimes u need that .

Is there a fix for this ? some sort of setting ? or am i doing something wrong?

Not to ask too stupid a question, but when you say the GH2 goes “off” do you just mean that the LCD screen is dark/off or that the whole camera shuts down and nothing is working.

If the former, it sounds like some setting having to do with external monitoring capabilities is interfering with LCD viewing – I use the Canon T2i so I am not familiar with the GH2 but that’s where I would start looking

Nigel – I run an unhacked GH2 with the OEM AC adapter and the coupler and it runs fine with nothing connected to the HDMI port.

In my view, your problem is either the hack or something squirrely about the 12VDC coming out of the P-V212. If you don’t get a better answer here, I would re-ask this question on the GH2 forum over at dvxuser.

    Good luck,
