Getting Titles To Not Look So “DIgital”
Hello All
I am finishing up a short, and making some simply White on Black title cards. Nothing too fancy. One thing that really bothers me is that they always looks so damn clean and digital. I’m not looking to make them look really old school silent filmy. I just want to give them a very slight grain so theyre not so clean in contrast with the rest of the film which has a little gain etc.
I tried the various grain choices in AE, but everything still looked really digital. Does anyone have any techniques or advice they might offer.

Find a nice texture on the web you like. Bring that in AE and use your titles as an alpha matte. This will change the straight texture to the file texture of your choice.

What about just a simple fast blur of 1 or 2 pixels?

Thanks fo the good ideas.
I have tried the texture idea, however the problem is in the clean edges not just the straight white of the titles.
What magic bullet plugin? Frames?
The fast blur, is that it just does that, it makes it look slightly blurry.
I have tried stuff out like Roughen edges, but it still looks digital. I think what I need to do is go old school and just print out the titles and photograph the. Any other thoughts?

Would making the titles in Photoshop and importing a .bmp back into AE help the look?
I’m having a hard time understanding what non-digital titles looks like.
Is it the perfectness of typeface and alignment and sharpness that is causing your grief?
