Hey there. So i’m having a tough time getting my footage to look the best…so i was hoping for some pointers. My problem:

Sony Vegas captures HDV into a .m2t file (as you all know), that i can’t edit in Adobe After Effects. I essentially have to color correct ALL of my footage, and i need to know what is the best settings to make an AVI or MOV?

    Camera: Cannon HV20
Capturing / Primary NLE: Sony Vegas
Color Correction / Effects: After Effects

Final Goal: A clean, good looking DVD.

Should I de-interlace and make the .m2t footage into avi’s to color correct and then edit…finally producing a .mpeg2? What settings is the best outcome for such a goal?

Thank you very much in advance!

What I like best (and what I’ve used for a couple of years) is CineForm. Their codec is editable and practically lossless. Sony licenses their codec to Vegas. They also make a better codec that comes in several of their products. The low end product, NEO, for Vegas is described here:

Others can make other suggestions but I’ve been happy with CineForm and have upgraded from there to Aspect and Prospect.
