  • Getting text to look good in FCP X

Posted by Christoph Gelfand on May 23, 2012 at 11:31 pm

Cutting a simple 1080p 29.97 ProRes project using FCP 10.0.4 and Lion 10.7.3. Using Helvetica titles (created in Photoshop CS 5.1 anti aliased). Feeding out via Matrox MXO2 to FSI 17″ monitor the text has jagged edges. It’s usable, but it is not up to my standards. By contrast, Motion titles look good in the exported QT file, but exhibit the same jagged edges as FCP X. This leads me to believe that it is an issue with X. Any ideas?

Check the quality level of video out in the prefs.

There’s a “faster” option and a “better” option.

Sorry not next to a machine and can’t remember the exact specifics.

It was set to Better Quality. Isn’t that just a preview function? This issue occurs in the finished QT output as well…

How do I move this to the other forum that you suggested?
