getting still images used in a cut into the system
Posted by Larry Di stefano on April 19, 2011 at 4:47 pmHi There,
Very new to DaVinci and I can’t find a way to get the still mages used in a doc, cut on FCP, into the DaVinci to grade. Can someone point me in the right direction?
Thanks,

April 19, 2011 at 11:25 pmI’m not very experienced using DaVinci (yet) but I work with other color and post production softwares and this is a common problem.
One way to “resolve” this would be to export the still image as a video (with its right duration), then import that video into FCP and replace the still image, so the new timeline is only connected to video files and not other kinds of media.
Then do the normal EDL workflow to import that sequence to Resolve.Rodrigo.

April 19, 2011 at 11:34 pmYeah, I wanted to avoid that since there are a lot of picture with moves on them and a new director so I’m expecting to have to change the pan/tilt on the photos. I was hoping to correct the images in DaVinci to give me maximum flexibility when outputting from FCP. I guess I’ll adjust the images in Photoshop.

April 20, 2011 at 2:44 amHave you converted them into TIFFs?
Davinci seems to like TIFFs only. They also will need to be renamed so that they have a number on the end like:
SHOT_A_01.tif etc.
Be careful not to put two different shots with the same prefix otherwise davinci will group them. You can batch modify all the shots in photoshop to be in the correct format and then use a renaming program to get it in the ballpark. Time consuming, but should work.
Marcus.
