Getting started with Rotoscoping
Posted by Bryan Grob on October 30, 2008 at 3:56 pmI’m interested in Rotoscoping a bit with with After Effects and I have access to After Effects and Avid Editing Suite. Is there anything else I need to get started?

October 31, 2008 at 3:43 pmMusic is a big help.. just realize that it’s a time-consuming, tedious job, but not necessarily difficult. Depending on what you are rotoscoping, I would recommend starting by keyframing a mask at either end of the footage and then working your way toward the middle; that way, some motion will get interpolated automatically for you, and you may not need to go frame by frame as much.

I think it’s best to start with the most complex frame. Complex in terms of the number and/or nature of the masks required to complete each task.
Pete’s tutorials are great and I’m sure the DVD will be money well-spent.
Cheers
