Getting new camera
OK I might be asking for a beating asking this question in a Panasonic forum, but here goes. Im considering getting another cxamera for my shoots. I currently use a Panasonic AG-DVC30. I need a better low light camera as well as one to complimnet or provide better video than what I have. Im looking at the AG-DVX100, but am also considering two Sony models, DSR-PD170 or DCR VX-2100. Obviously I like the same brand for ease of battery replacements etc. Can anyone give me an opinion on why not to go with the Sony? Also, any advantage or disadvantage to going to a HD camcorder right now? Do they perform as well in low light? I shoot weddings, so low light is a key concern. Thanks for any feedback you can give.

The DVX100 is good in low light but probably not the best. Then again you are also getting 24p which adds a film look to your footage. Worth getting a demo to see how low you can go.

I have a dvx100b and PD-170 (and ironically just sold a vx2100). I find that the PD-170 is better in lowlight than the dvx100b. The dvx100 is not horrible in lowlight though and it really depends on what other features you need from your camera. The dvx100 has a lot of features that the Sony does not.
Short answer: If you are ONLY concerned with lowlight then go with the PD-170. If not, it will depend on your overall needs.
