Getting large video off iPhone 8 to PC
Hello. This probably isn’t the right forum for this (couldn’t find one specifically aimed at iPhones—is there even one?), but the knowledgeable humans on this site have helped me more times than I can count in the past and an Apple-related forum seemed closest bet.
I am simply trying to get a 2.5-hour video off my iPhone 8. I recorded it with the phone. I have tried plugging my phone into my computer (PC, Windows 10) and manually copy+pasting it from the phone’s photo folders—the connection drops before the video can finish copying. I have tried using third-party software to “hack” into my phone’s internal file system—same thing. I have tried uploading the video to Google Drive via WiFi—same thing. I have tried backing up all my photos/videos to iCloud—I have too many and I can’t even get far enough into the backup process before it doesn’t reach the video and quits. I have tried backing up all my photos/videos to Google Photos—the video tries to upload and sits at 0% indefinitely. I have tried uploading to Dropbox—not enough space, same “timing out” of the upload.
To be clear, there is nothing wrong with this video file. It plays perfectly fine on my phone. It is just…well, huge. I’ve even tried cutting it into smaller videos—that works for the first chunk, then fails every other time (a bug that, according to Apple’s help forums, they have left unsolved for months).
I cannot get this video off my phone. I have done everything I can think of. I need it for a video I’m editing, pronto. Apparently this is a lesson to never use my phone as a B camera in the future. But that’s not the point right this second. If anyone has any ideas, PLEASE let me know. I am losing my mind over how ridiculous it is that I can’t get a video from my phone to my computer. It’s insane.
Thank you!
