  • Getting coordinates from object spherized with Wrap deformer

Posted by Riccardo Sinti on January 25, 2016 at 5:23 pm

I’ve got a world map I am spherizing from flat to a globe using the Wrap deformer.
I’ve got a small red sphere on the map as a city marker. As the map animates from flat to spherical the little red city marker follows the wrap and sticks on it’s place in the world- visually.
In coordinates, however, the sphere stays locked to the flat, unwrapped plane.
How can I get a null to access the wrapped PSR coordinates of the city marker sphere so I can export nulls to AE or even do it in C4D?
    Thanks!

I would create a point where the red sphere is located, if there isn’t one there already. You can use the knife tool for this. Then use Xpresso’s point node with the “deformed points” option to get the real position of the point. You can feed that position into the null’s position input.
