Hi. I’m editing a lot of small clips together to make a small highlight video. I accidently placed my music track over the audio that belonged to the video and lost it all. I didn’t realize this until i had done a ton of other stuff. Is there a way to get the audio back without having to re-edit all the clips? Thank you.

If your still in the same session, simply Ctrl-Z(Undo) until the error is corrected.

There may be an easier way, but this is how I’ve always handled this…

If you’ve already closed the project and reopened it, place the playhead at the beginning of a clip in your timeline, then hit ‘M’. This loads that clip’s source file in the Source Monitor and places the Source Monitor’s playhead at the same spot as in the timeline. Set an In point on the source clip. Take the timeline’s playhead to the last frame of the clip, and hit ‘M’ again, which moves the source’s playhead to that point. Set an Out point in on the source. Then just drag the audio from the source to the timeline directly under the relevant clip.

Sounds like a lot, but do it enough and you’ll be surprised at how fast it can be.
