Getting an FCP X XML from a title stream…

SOLUTION:

Copy all of the text from the FCP X Timeline.

create a new project

paste it into the new project and set the first title to match the TC from where you pasted.

Export FCP X XML

Convert in FCP X to 7

Open in FCP 7

Surprisingly all of the text is there as well. Cool!

If you got “pre-rendered” titles use EDL-X

With standard “typed-in” titles you can use my XTE to convert a FXCPXML to STL. It comes as free app with my TitleExchange.

I should have added that I did use your tool. Title exchange and was able to open these files in Jubler as well.

Okay,

But the workflow you described has “too many” steps 😉
Here what would be mine.
Export the whole project as FXPXML.
Open the XML with XTE and save.
Open the saved STL in Jubler.

It’s just a few seconds.
With XTE you also can control subs by their role. This makes it easy to control different languages. Also time collisions are handled.

You are right. This is much smarter and faster and much more what I would expect from FCPX xml files.

I think I have been so beaten down at doing workarounds theis past year that I forget to check if there is an elegant solution that works with FCP X and yours works perfectly.

I could have saved a bunch of time using this very professional and efficient tool.
