Getting a windows laptop for web development
Well, due to pricing, I’m thinking of switching to Windows for a portable solution.
I’d like to hear from anyone who has gone from Mac to Win in regards to: what Win system is the most solid for CS3/4 stuff?
Does the 64 vista system pose any problems with the software? etc.
I’m researching many different laptops and so far HP has the best sound overall deals. Dell’s are built to wear out so says many IT people I’ve talked to. hearsay, I know, but one has to use something to start cutting down on choices.
Any suggestions/comments?

I don’t have any particular problems running adobe software on Vista. Compared with OS X, any windows system unstable. But this has been since the beginning of time.
If you look at the components of a Mac and look for a PC with similar components the price will not be that different.

Many windows systems since the advent of NT are rock stable, and the Mac has improved no end once Apple moved to running a graphical UI on a Unix core (OSX). But you can find bad examples of either.
Windows runs on a wide range of hardware, from dirt cheap to very specialist and high performance, and it makes sense to have your system configured by an expert, ideally at your supplier.
HP has a good reputation in the media world, partly because the machines are good (e.g I have an HP laptop, which hasn’t crashed since purchase, a couple of years back)and partly because they work hard to make sure that they support Avid – which is great software but quite picky about what hardware it runs on.
