  • Getting 720p25/60 into Final Cut Pro via a 1200A deck?

Is it possible to get a 720p25/60 signal out of the 1200A deck via HD-SDI to send to Final Cut Pro?

I have had a look at the brochure for the AJ-1200A deck, and it neatly shows that if your tape is 720p25/60, then the only thing you will get out of the deck is 1080/25p. I have had a few people suggest that it is possible to get a 720p signal out of the 1200A, but cannot see how this is possible.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

    Cheers

I believe you need either the 1700 or the new 1400 deck to do this!

After a lot of stuffing about and testing different settings, we did manage to get it working with the 1200A deck.

The key was getting the System Frequency on the deck to 59/60 (not 25HD), the PB Format set to Auto and the FCP system to 720p25 using the latest BlackMagic presets.
There was another issue with how the input signal was setup, but I received a quick e-mail from John at Panasonic who suggested that if I set the deck back to factory default, then check that the System Freq. and PB format are right, then all would be good.

Thanks to Josh at Axis Films & John from Panasonic for their input and advice.

    Cheers
