Get Vegas 8 now or wait for 9?
I’m currently using Vegas 7. Should I take advantage of the Sony 35% off deal now and upgrade to Vegas 8 or wait until Vegas 9 comes out? Is there any word on when 9 is going to happen? Any thoughts would be much appreciated.

No word on when 9 will be released (or the features in it), but if there are benefits in 8 that you want- I would go ahead and get it. You may be able to find it cheaper at B&H or Tigerdirect or Amazon than direct from Sony, but if you buy 8pro from Sony and then they come out with 9 within the grace period, you should be able to upgrade to 9 free of charge.

If there is a Vegas Pro 9 out this year, it will probably be released in about a month during NAB. Traditionally, Sony has been offering the upgrade for about $150 for the first 30 days. That’s slightly less than you would pay to upgrade from Vegas 7 to Vegas Pro 8 with their current 35% off sale.
